Visa assurance sought
PA Wellington The New Zealand Rugby Union wants an assurance visas will be given the All Blacks before any further Argentine tour plans are made, said the N.Z.R.F.U. chairman, Ces Blazey, yesterday. Since the Falklands war and the closing of Argentina’s embassy in Wellington, New Zealanders seeking visas have had to apply to Canberra.
"We have asked the Argentine union for a categorical assurance that visas will be available,” said Mr Blazey. “We want to ensure there will be no problems.” The tour is scheduled to take place in October and November. Mr Blazey said that three former All Blacks who went to Argentina in June were given visas in the United States en route.
