Whose life?

“Whose Life is it Anyway?” is the Repertory Theatre’s third production for the 1983 season.

This controversial play by Brian Clark was an award winning 1978 West End production in London, and is the story of Ken Harrison. Injured in a road accident and completely paralysed from the neck down, he fights to have his life support systems removed and to be permitted to die with dignity. The play poses many questions of both ethics and attitudes of the medical profession and of the patient. The lead is Peter McAl-

lum, last seen as the villain in “East Lynne.” Others in the cast are Eva Joel, Toni Glue, John Smyth, Priscilla Clark, Jon Pheloung, Tony Nightingale, Mervyn Glue, David Bunce, Joe Waller, Freda Dibble and Geoffrey Mills.

The director, Penny Giddens, in the search for authenticity in such an important play, approached the Burwood Spinal Unit, and the actors visited the unit.

The production will be the first in the theatre’s new curtained-off, intimate auditorium. The play runs from August 6 to 13.
