Swimmers swept away

NZPA Dublin Eight Young men are feared drowned in a swimming tragedy off the Irish coast. Rescue workers said yesterday that the men had been swept out to sea by strong undercurrents while swimming in the Atlantic off the small fishing village of Doolin, Bkm from the. western Irish town of Lisdoonvarna.

The body of a youth was recovered later and at first light yesterday (local time) lifeboats and an Irish Army helicopter had resumed a search for seven men, including three brothers, a marine rescue service spokesman said. The eight, aged between 17 and 25, had been attending an annual rock festival in Lisdoonvarna.
