Milk vendor to quit round

A Christchurch milk vendor has decided to give up his vendor’s licence after customers complained to the Milk Board about his service.

The board began a review of the vendor’s licence earlier this month after it received a petition complaining about the general quality of the service. The petition had 244 signatures, representing 186 out of the 550 households on the round.

The hearing on the review was due to resume yesterday but was cancelled after

the vendor decided to offer the round back to the Milk Board.

Mr John Duncraft, the board’s Christchurch manager, said that the board would decide within the next few weeks whether the round would be rezoned, transferred to others in the industry, or advertised to the public. The present vendor will continue until the end of October. Mr Duncraft declined to identify the vendor, who had been on the round for about seven years.
