Freyberg flag stolen
PA Wellington The Union Jack which draped the coffin of Lord Freyberg 20 years ago has been stolen from Wellington College. Two other flags with historic associations and five war medals were also missing, said the school’s principal, Mr Harvey ReesThomas yesterday. Lord Freyberg, an old boy of the college, commanded the New Zealand Division during World War H and was Governor-General from 1946 until 1952.
