Jones’s repeat victory
NZPA Long Beach, California Murray Jones, of New Zealand, and Klaus Maran, of Italy, sailed to repeat victories in their classes yesterday in the second day of the Long Beach Olympic classes regatta. Jones leads the 470 class and Maran’s top finishes have put him ahead in the windglider glass. Five races remain in the week-long series being held in the same waters where Olympic sailing will be done next year. ' Other winners yesterday
were Randy Smyth in the Tornado class, Giorgio Gorla, of Italy, in the Star class, Bengt Hagander, of Sweden, in the Flying Dutchman class and Terry Nielson, of Canada, in the Finn class. In the 4705, Jones and Chris Dickson gave New Zealand a 1-2 finish, which was the same way they finished in their national selection trials. Other class leaders include Alan Adler, of Brazil, in the Flying Dutchman and Lasse Hjortnaes, of Denmark, in the Finn class.
