Bid for Salmond at 350c
The mystery bidder for 500,000 shares in Salmond Industries, Ltd, at 350 c each —50 c higher than the last sale — was well short of target when only 5700 Salmond shares were crossed yesterday at 356 c. The shares of the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics manufacturer and distributor are quite tightly held. Salmond’s ordinary capital is $3.0 million in 100 c shares. It is controlled by Salmond and Spraggon Investments, Ltd, of Wellington, which holds 30.2 per cent of the capital. The Government Insurance commissioner is the next biggest investor at 10 per cent. The bidder is seeking a holding of 16.5 per cent.
