Blind man’s triumph
NZPA London Pearson Nherere, the blind son of a black farmer in Zimbabwe, has graduated master of laws with firstclass honours at Cambridge University, the “Guardian” newspaper reports. Mr Nherere, aged 22, and blind from birth, arrived at Trinity College only last year and has taken the top prize for the best student in international law. He studied in his home province of Masvingo with the aid of braille textbooks supplied by the Royal National Institute for the Blind in Britain, and gained a first at the University of Zimbabwe in every course he took.
