Guns stolen from shop
Three firearms and a quantity of ammunition were stolen from a sports shop in Rangiora during the week-end. Burglars entered Gibsons sport shop through the roof and broke into the gun security rack. A Bentley five-shot pumpaction shotgun, a Jaser 15 shot semi-automatic .22 rifle and an air pistol were taken. Ammunition for the firearms was also stolen, along with two black Adidas track suits with white stripes, a pack, a sleeping bag, and cash.
The Rangiora police would like to hear from
anyone who might have seen any of the items. The Jaser .22 rifle is an “Armalite” look-alike rifle. It is not known when the burglary took place, but it is believed to have been early Sunday or Monday morning. The burglars left through the roof.
Investigations are continuing into a burglary at The Lodge hotel, Hanmer Springs. Entry was gained to a locked office and several thousand dollars was stolen from the safe.
The burglary took place between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.
