Housing relief hint
PA Auckland Families with housing problems may benefit from next week’s Budget, the Minister of Maori Affairs, Mr Couch, suggested yesterday. After visiting South Auckland at the week-end to see some of its housing problems, Mr Couch said he was sure the Minister of Housing, Mr Friedlander, was
aware of the area’s needs.
Manukau City councillors who were pushing for more State rental housing should “wait for the Budget,” he said. Asked if he meant that the Budget would include housing help for South Auckland, Mr Couch said: “Let’s put it this way. If anything’s going to happen, it will be on the 28th.”
