70 school pupils contest fencing
About 70 fencers took part in the Canterbury inter-second-ary schools’ championships at Avonside Girls’ High School last week-end. Christchurch Boys’ High School won the boys’ teams title for the fourth year in a row and retained' its foil and sabre titles. However, it was by no means a one-sided contest and Christ’s College was only one point behind in the teams’ title. One of its fencers, David Metcalf, won the epee event.
