SCIENTIST RUAKURA ANIMAL RESEARCH STATION Vacancy No. 3576 A POSITION EXISTS at the Ruakura Animal Research Station in Hamilton for a scientist with postgraduate training in biochemistry, physiology and/or endocrinology to participate in a programme aimed at identifying the mechanisms responsible for control of body composition in sheep. The programme is expected to generate improved criteria for the selection of suitable animals in a breeding programme or identify inherited traits which can be manipulated by genetic engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to propose original research in this area and to have experience in more than one of the following techniques: methods of enzymatic analysis, assay of hormone concentrations in body fluids, in vivo or in vitro measurements of tissue metabolism, or mathematical modelling of tissue metabolism.
