COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISER NORTH TARANAKI WITH THE MAJOR GROWTH which is expected in North Taranaki as a result of the large energy projects, increased pressure will be placed on a whole range of existing social services and facilities. The North Taranaki local authorities are keen to see that these pressures are met in a full and coordinated manner, and for that reason have decided to establish a North Taranaki community development project which is designed to facilitate the process of meeting the needs of people within the sub-region. A community development adviser is required to manage this project. The person being sought would need to have an interest in the problems of an urban/rural community in a time of rapid change and would need to have the ability to bring about maximum community involvement in planning and managing such change. A recognised qualification in social science or community work and/or appropriate experience in working closely with community groups would be an advantage. The position is initially available for three years, and will be based in Waitara.
