Care of Children CAN YOU GIVE SIMON A HOME? SIMON IS 6 YEARS OLD. He is an appealing and active child who requires considerable attention. From his infancy his mother has felt unable to handle him and he has had several foster placements. Consequently he has suffered some damage and needs mature and experienced foster parents able to care for and understand him and at the same time set clear and firm limits for his behaviour. We feel Simon would do best in a family with older children where the youngest child is at least 11. He needs a long-term foster home. Over the past two years a number of children have benefited from the Intensive Foster Care Scheme which provides special supports and payments to families willing to face the challenge of caring for a child who otherwise may not achieve the stability and attachment to a family that he or she needs.
