Marist, Sumner joint leaders in squash

Marist and Vistalite Sumner I have the joint leadership of the New Zealand Permanent men’s division one squash competition after the latest round on Tuesday evening. Sumner I was the only team to extract a 10-pointer from the evening with the New Zealand world championship squash member, Paul Viggers, dropping only two points against George Balani (Christchurch I). In the contest between the number threes there was a reversal of first round interclub form when Steven Wren (Sumner I) beat his fellow junior, Geoffrey Cotton, in five games. > Marist had its second big win of the Wilson Shield round, although the match between Joe Rosevear and Geoff Hayes (Christchurch II) was a real cliff-hanger. For Rosevear it was his first success in four five-setters this club season. In the women’s competition the first round winner, Vistalite Sumner I, suffered. an immediate setback with'a loss to the Linwood sidp/ Playing at No. 1 for Linwood, Suzanne Davies had win over Kate Carpiriter.
