Another hold-up

A man armed with a sawn-off shotgun held up the manager of the Supervalue supermarket at Church Corner, Upper Riccarton, last evening and escaped with a substantial sum of money. Just after closing time, about 9.30 p.m., the manager, Mr Kenneth Pizzey, aged 46, of Burnside, was leaving the supermarket in Hansons Lane, when he was accosted by a man holding a sawn-off shotgun and wearing a stocking over his head. The police said the man forced Mr Pizzey back inside the doors, and made him open the safe which contained a substantial sum of money. The man then tied up Mr Pizzey with cord he had with him, and left with the money.

Mr Pizzey, still bound, managed to get to the telephone and ring the police. The police are looking for a male, aged about 20, 180 cm tall (sft Ilin). He was wearing a dark jacket.
