Back-taxes ‘owed’
NZPA Madrid The Spanish authorities have named 60 international cinema stars who allegedly owe $228,000 in Spanish Among them are the British film-maker, Sir Richard Attenborough, whose film, “Gandhi” won several Oscars this year, and the British actress, Koo Stark. The list goes back to 1972 and includes a $1370 claim against William Holden and one of $5OO against Vittoria de Sica, both of whom are dead. The “Trinity” series actor, Bud Spencer faces a bill of $13,500, and Sir Richard $5500. Miss Stark, who made headlines because of her friendship with Prince Andrew, owes $2700 on a film she made in Spain, in 1975, the Spanish authorities say. Also on the list are Adriano Celentano, Terence Hill, Burgess Meredith, Sarah Miles, Oliver Reed, Sidney
Rome, Liv Ullman, and Lee Van Cleef. ® In China a tax registration has revealed 288,000 enterprises from which taxmen had “forgotten” to collect taxes. The “China Daily” reported that back-tax payments from such enterprises
in Peking, and Hubei, Henan, and Fujian provinces already had totalled more than $7O million. The enterprises had included 47,000 State-owned businesses, 31,000 collectives, and more than 210,000 individual businessmen.
