Defeat in softball
NZPA staff correspondent Hong Kong New Zealand has been knocked out of the international invitational women’s softball tournament in Hong Kong after being beaten 3-2 by Australia on Saturday.
The loss followed a 4-3 upset by Japan in the team’s first game of the double knock-out section on Friday. China defeated Australia 2-nil, and the underdogs. Japan, disposing of Canada 1-nil.
