Kelvinator Trophy retained by Canty
Canterbury retained the Kelvinator Trophy when it won the South Island division three badminton final at the Skellerup Hall over the week-end. A 13-3 win over Southland and a narrow victory over Marlborough gave Canterbury 35 points. Having finished level at eight matches apiece, a countback was required to separate Canterbury and Marlborough, and Canterbury won, 18 games to 17. Southland beat Marlborough, 9-7, in a close contest, and with winning teams being rewarded with a bonus of three points, both finished on 15 points. Canterbury 13, Southland 3 Singles.— P. V.
