By DIANA DEKKER in London The average British house now costs £33,773 ($77,678), according to the test survey of the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers. The society said house prices continued to rise, but only slowly, and the market was stil a buyer’s one. prices were about 8 per cent higher than the depressed levels of a year ago. Figures showed that during the last three months prices had increased 3.9 per cent, held by growing mortgage queues which, the survey concluded have prevented a sales boom.
