Youths jailed for armed robbery
PA Hamilton Two youths who held up the Pauanui Post Office with loaded shotguns were jailed for two years when they appeared for sentence in the High Court at Hamilton. Andrew Grant Palmer, aged 19, unemployed, of Hamilton, and Aaron Nesbitt Kettle, aged 18, unemployed, of Hamilton appeared before Mr Justice Bisson on one charge each of robbing Evelyn Booth of $41.01 at the Pauanui Post Office on June 14. Palmer also appeared for sentence on one charge of breaking and entering a
Hamilton house between May 22 and May 29. He had previously pleaded guilty to the charges and was jailed for two years on the robbery, charge and one year on the burglary charge. Kettle also appeared on one charge of breaking and entering and one of unlawfully taking a car on June 14.
He had earlier admitted the charges and was jailed for two years on the robbery charge, one year on the burglary charge and six months on the conversion charge. The terms for both youths are concurrent.
