ECONOMIST NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURERS’ FEDERATION This is a key appointment requiring participation in the formulation of virtually all matters of Federation policy. The economist will be required to report and advise on economic trends and the implications of government policies, and will be responsible for research and the preparation of submissions. Some involvement In advocacy, secretarial work and travel will be required. Key issues largely relate to international trade policy, particularly C.E.R., protection and export incentives. It would be expected that the applicant was familiar with these issues and have the ability to understand and promote the needs of manufacturers in these areas. REQUIREMENTS: • Tertiary qualifications in economics and related subjects. • At least five years practical experience as an economist. ’ Age range flexible. • Ability to communicate clearly. • Versatility to deal with a wide range of issues at any one time. • Preferably a commercial background and dealings with the manufacturing sector.
