Airport runway
Sir,—After the airport runway extension, is it possible that aircraft making their approach will fly so much lower over the town of Kaiapoi? — Yours, etc., R. A. BERGMAN, Kaiapoi. June 29, 1983.
[The regional director, flight standards, for the Civil Aviation Division of the Ministry of Transport, Mr C. G. Payne, replies: “While the runway extension at Christchurch Airport will relocate the approach path further towards the north, the change in height of aircraft approaching over Kaiapoi will be virtually indiscernible to an observer on the ground.”]
