Fourth best score
New Zealand’s huge cricket total of 544 for nine wickets against Somerset at Taunton is the fourthhighest total achieved by a New Zealand team in England, and was only two runs short of the record for a three-day county match.
The best first-class score by a New Zealand team is 551 for nine declared in the Lord's test of 1973. The top total of all was at Maidenhead in 1927 when, in a twoday match against H. M. Martineau’s XI, the New Zealanders opened their tour with 586 for five.
