NZPA-Reuter New York A sense of Irishness felt by Catholics in Northern Ireland must be recognised if there is to be a lasting peace in the province, the Irish Prime Minister, Dr Garret Fitz Gerald, said in an interview released yesterday. “We must accommodate the equally legitimate sense of Irish identity of the (Catholic) minority in Northern Ireland, which is ignored in the' existing framework,” Dr Fitz Gerald told “Newsweek International.” “It has been ignored up to now and that is why we have the present difficulties.”
