PA Ashburton Mid-Canterbury defeated Central Queensland, 26-10, in a representative rugby match in Ashburton yesterday.

Central Queensland defence kept the score to a respectable level. The only encouraging
feature of Mid-Canterbury’s win was the form of fullback, John Holmes, who scored four great tries in his representative debut.
