Thrust revels in going
Special correspondent Hastings Thrust revelled in the soft underfoot conditions when running a solid 1000 m at Hastings yesterday. Heavy rain on Monday evening made the ground very soft on top and cutting out. Thrust looked to be travelling better than his stablemate, Moss, after 1000 m on the course proper in Imin 6.15. Thrust was a close second behind Tredici over 1600 m. at Awapuni last time out and is a top chance for the Farewell Handicap at Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting. The apprentice, Paul Worthington, will ride him. Master Blaster and Nioami hit out well over 1200 m on the course proper in Imin 17s, the last 800 in 51.9 s and the final 600 in 40.25. This was a sound trial. Master Blaster was an impressive last start winner at Awapuni.
