Boat recovered
Two Navy mine-sweepers on a routine patrol from Darwin to Sydney have picked up both halves of the solo trans-Pacific rower Peter Bird’s boat, “Hele-on-Britannia.” A Cairns Naval base spokesman, Lieutenant Chris Churcher, said that both sections of the 10.6metre boat were recovered off the northern tip of Cape York Peninsula — Cairns.
