Canadian tourists lose
Appleby College, the touring rugby team from Ontario, Canada, had its first loss in New Zealand when it was beaten 28-10 by the Christ’s College second XV in an entertaining game at Christ’s College yesterday. The home team scored six tries, Paddy Borthwick and John Wyne-Lewis getting two each and Henry Weston
and Seamus Sullivan one each. Tony Hazlett kicked two conversions. Appleby College, which had already drawn with Hastings Boys’ High School and beaten Scots College, was behind, 6-10, at halftime. Its points came through tries by Jeff Fairburn and Rod Taylor and a conversion by Steve Mann.
