Oriental fruit moth

Sir,—l find the lack of concern by the M.A.F. and the public in the spreading of Oriental fruit moth hard to understand. The M.A.F. has suggested preventative spray measures to North Island nurseries which may be sending their fruit tree stock anywhere in New Zea-

land, but there has been nothing mandatory laid down. Have North Island commercial growers sprays available to control the fruit moth which are not available to the average man in the street? Prevention at this stage would seem more constructive than controls at a later date. — Yours, etc., ■ J. N. de LATOUR, Lavericks Bay. June 23, 1983.
