Spirit of promotion
Mr Keith Steel (left), export manager of the Glenmorangie Distillery Company, and Mr Neil McKerrow, director of the same company, sample some of their company’s whisky in Christchurch. They are in New Zealand to promote their product, Glenmorangie whisky. The Glenmorangie Distillery Company is one
of Scotland’s most famous distilleries. Whisky remained Scotland’s most valuable export, and the most successful world-wide alcoholic drink, said Mr McKerrow. The whisky industry grew dramatically in the 19505, 19605, and 1970 s but in the last three years had, like other spirit indus-
tries, suffered from a general downturn in developed markets. However, Mr McKerrow said that the whisky industry had an enormous base, and he was confident that it would grow again, although it would have to fight harder to increase its share of the spirits market.
