Energy switch fund sought
The Government will be asked to provide assistance to commercial and industrial enterprises in Canterbury wanting to switch from oil to electricity. “The South Island is going to have a surplus of elec-
tricity and is already exporting coal. It is common sense to say that the electricity should be used for energy and the coal exported,” Cr M. O. Cleland told the Canterbury United Council’s pollution committee yesterday.
