Leisurely passage home
PA Dunedin The solo yachtsman, Dick Mcßride, plans to make a leisurely passage home, and to arrive back in New Zealand by May, 1984.
“My first plan is to find a new engine for the boat. I plan to sail City of Dunedin
back to New Zealand via the Panama Canal, and I must have an engine to go through the canal, Mcßride said from Newport, Rhode Island. Mcßride said he was still fully committed to providing seamanship courses for young people from Otago, and intended to use the City
of Dunedin for training cruises from Otago Harbour.
Mcßride was j?Iso unequivocal about doing the voyage again. “The race is not for everyone, but I say if you want to do it, go,” he advised any future race hopefuls.
