To combat indoor air pollution
Air pollution can be more of a problem inside a house than outside it, and the problem intensifies in the winter months.
Ventilation is necessary year round, but can be particularly difficult to achieve on still, winter days, which also bring the threat of long-term indoor dampness, condensation and mildew. Mistral’s exhaust fans offer a neat solution to lingering cooking smells, cigarette smoke, and excessive moisture indoors, all of which can be damaging to furnishings, as well as unpleasant to live with. “Mistral” is claimed by PDL Sales, Ltd, to be “Australia’s leading name in exhaust and cooling fans.”
there are seven models made in New Zealand under licence by PDL' Industries, Ltd, of Christchurch.
Six of them are exhaust fans designed to fit into windows, walls, or ceilings, and the seventh is the “unique” Gyro-Aire cooling fan. The Mistral MWE7 fan is
a 175 mm windaw-wall exhaust fan with shutters. It is easy to install, very competitively priced, and the cords for opening and closing the shutters also switch the appliance on and off.
The bigger version of this fan is the AWEIO, which has a 250 mm diameter and automatic shutters. With both of these, ducting kits are available for wall fitting application.
There are two ; sizes of ceiling exhaust fans, too — again 175 mm and‘2somm, and the larger of them is available with automatic shutters.
The other three ceiling models include a "fly screen” debris trap that catches most of the cooking grease ascending above’ a stove. The trap also prevents dust and insects borne on air currents in the ceiling cavity from coming down into the room. The larger size is also produced as a 254 mm fan and down-light combination - the FLBS.
This combines powerful,
100-Watt, wide-angle illumination with the benefits of an extractor fan, and is available with combined or separate switching for each capability.
All the Mistral exhaust fans are run by a quiet, efficient, four-pole motor with a “thermotemp” that automatically cuts power to the unit if over-heating occurs.
All these products are manufactured in accordance with New Zealand standard NZI3OO, and are available from leading appliance retailers throughout the South Island.
