Big gain for Selby
Selby Shoe Company rose 171 c to 451 c on a bullish, busy New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. Sources in Auckland were unable to give any reason why that issue should make such a big gain. The N.Z.U.C. industrial index rose 12.42 points and rises outnumbered falls more than six to one. Cable Price Downer and McConnell Dowell both firmed on profit reports. Ernest Adams was untraded after announcing an excellent result. The mining and oil sector was again active and firm. Cue Energy rose 2c and NZ Oil and Gas sc, but NZ Petroleum eased sc.
