Inquest findings on Epps, Dobbs deaths
PA Wellington The final legal stages of a manslaughter case and a murder case have ended in Wellington with the Coroner, Mr Andrew McGregor, making findings on the deaths of Lester Thomas Epps and Robert John Dobbs. Both inquests opened in 1981 for evidence of identification,' and were adjourned for subsequent court cases. Resuming the inquests yesterday* the Coroner found Lester Epps died
on August 18, 1981, of head injuries suffered in an attack on him in Wellington, on August 15. He found that Robert. Dobbs died on July 17,1981, in' Wellington of asphyxia after inhalation of blood from severe injuries suffered in an attack on him. The Coroner decided not to resume the inquests under section 20 of the Coroners Act In both cases there had been a trial and conviction. There was no need to hold a full inquest, he said.
