The Ford Motor Company has introduced a new integrated car and wheelchair system, enabling disabled persons to drive without having to leave their wheelchairs. The new “Freelancer” system can be built into any car, in place of one of the front seats, without affecting its performance or looks. It consists of a floor frame, a swing-out arm to lift in the wheelchair, and easy-to-operate electic controls.
