Call to end split
NZPA Damascus The Algerian President, Colonel Chadli Benjedid, has called for Arab efforts to end the split in Yasser Arafat’s Fatah commando group which erupted into heavy clashes over the week-end. “I regret what is happening in Palestinian ranks and hope that all of us will cooperate to help them unite for the sake of the Palestinian people,” he said on Syrian television.
He arrived at Damascus on Sunday
