Papal Indian visit
Pope John Paul II will visit India next year at the invitation of the Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi, and Indian bishops. A senior Indian Church official will visit the Vatican to discuss the details of the visit. Christians in India make up about 2.6 per cent of the total population of about 700 million. — New Delhi.
