Survey of executives

Researchers are making a survey of senior Christchurch executives to establish typical career paths. From the results, careerplanning seminars will be held for the young and ambitious who aspire to be managers.

The Canterbury Management Survey is a joint project by the Canterbury Division of the Institute of Management and the business administration department of the University of Canterbury.

Dr s. K. Dakin, of the university, says that about 250 people, either chief executives, managing directors, or managers of firms or branches with a staff of 100 or more, would be asked ito fill in a questionnaire. Some had already been approached. The executives will also be asked what they think are the most important aspects of management education, and how important various skills have been during their careers.
