L.P.G. storage tanks coming
Ten big liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks will be unloaded from a ship scheduled to call at Lyttelton on Thursday. The Antar, a 16,972-ton bulk carrier sailing from Japan, is cairying the empty tanks which are destined for the L.P.G. depot at Woolston. Special arrangements have been made to unload the tanks, which are 22m long and 5m high. The Harbour Board floating crane Rapaki will be called in to lift the tanks from the Antar. The ship is expected to berth at No. 3 West and it is planned to have the Rapaki haul the .tanks from the vessel to a transporter at No. 4 East. A special rig supplied by a Wellington company will be used to transport the tanks through the Lyttelton road tunnel.
