Phone 529-194 ©Ministry of Works and Development OHAAKI POWER PROJECT CONTRACT FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NATURAL DRAUGHT COOLING TOWER INVITATION TO TENDER TENDERS are now invited from suitably experienced contnractors for the design and construction of a natural draught cooling tower at Ohaakl, adjacent to State Highway 5,53 km south of Rotorua, In the North Island of New Zealand. Those firms or associations of firms who have already formally registered their interest in tendering will be Issued with tendering documents and need not re-apply for them. Other prospective tenderers who have not previously registered their Interest for the work may obtain documents from the address listed below. Documents will not be issued to any prospective tenderers after Friday, July 1, 1983. Tenders are to be submitted in accordance with the conditions of tender contained in the documents and will close at the following address on Tuesday, September 6,1983, at 4 p.m. (New Zealand time): The Secretary, Tenders Board, ' Ministry of Works and Development, Box 12 003, Wellington North, NEW ZEALAND. Telex NZ 3844 It is expected that the contract will be awarded about December 1983 and completed in September, 1986. The contract includes the thermal and structural design, construction and performance t esting of a complete natural draught cooling tower to dissipate approximately 420 MW of heat from recycled geothermal condensate together with 40 tonnes/ hour of geothermal gas. Preference will be given to tenders submitted by an association of firms which include a competent New Zealand contractor and a New Zealand firm or organisation competent and experienced in seismic design of lage structures. Maximum opportunity must be provided for the use of New Zealand resources. The work will be funded by the Government of New Zealand and the contract will be governed by the laws of New Zealand.
