Duties Involve responsibility for Internal medicine and pediatrics at the hospital, and applicants should have had considerable experience in these fields; but also general clinical cover for medical and surgical work of the whole hospital when rostered for acute call would be necessary. A higher qualification in internal medicine would be desirable but not essential. Salary will be in accordance with the Hospital Medical Officers Determination, Specialists automatic scale $35,121 to $45,213 p.a. or Medical Officer of special scale $24,286 to $42,717 p.a. dependent on qualification and experience. An overseas appointee may be given assistance with fares in return for a bond. Bay of Islands Hospital has a total bed state of 88 and is supported by the Base Hospital 50km away and specialists in internal medicine and pediatrics make regular visits.
