Honkin Del wins
Honkin Del, the former South Island Juvenile, won a $15,000 event for two-year-old fillies at Harold Park, Sydney, on Friday evening. The daughter of Honkin Andy and Ceredel disputed the pace with 800 m to run and cleared out over the closing stages to win by a hollow 24m.
Honkin Dell, trained by Merv Adams, paced the mile in 2min 2.35, only 0.2 s outside the track record for a two-year-old filly. Honkin Del scored a dashing debut win in New Zealand at Ashburton in Feburary, winning by .eight lengths in 2min 2.75. She was later sold by her Southland owner-trainer, John Lischner, to New South Wales interests.
