A 1914 Manning Wardle industrial locomotive is loaded on to a road transporter at Ferrymead Historic Park for the journey by road to Waipara. The elderly engine, pulling railway waggons, will give rides to people on a 3km stretch of rail during the two-day carnival which will begin at Waipara on Saturday. The carnival is being held to raise funds for a tourist train on the old Waipara branch line.
