Public Notices UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY ELECTION TO COUNCIL AN election of members of Council of the University of Canterbury will be held on MONDAY, JUNE 13, 1983. The election is being held to fill the vacancies caused by the expiry of the terms of office of: Mr D. J. Clark, (Secondary Schools) Mrs V. Cottrell (Court of Convocation) Mr P. Yeoman (Court of Convocation) All the retiring members listed above are eligible for reelection. The classes of electors entitled to nominate and vote in this election and the number of candidates to be elected are as follows: CANTERBURY DISTRICT COURT OF CONVOCATION REGISTER: TWO CANDIDATES. GOVERNING BODIES OF SECONDARY* SCHOOLS: ONE CANDIDATE. (•As defined by Clause 6 of the University of Canterbury Act.) Nomination papers may be obtained at the Registry. Candidates are Invited to submit a short biographical statement to be sent out with the voting papers and this statement should be attached to the nomination paper. NOMINATIONS CLOSE with the Returning Officer, University of Canterbury at 5 p.m. on MONDAY, MAY 16, 1983. The Court of Convocation consists of all graduates of the University of Canterbury, Canterbury University College and Lincoln College, all professors and graduate full time members of Staff of the University of Canterbury and Lincoln College and any graduate of any New Zealand university who, having been resident In the Canterbury University District for three months, has made application to the Registrar of the University of Canterbury for enrolment on the Register. CLAIMS FOR ENROLMENT close at 5 p.m. on MONDAY, MAY 16,1983, and the Register remains closed until JUNE 14, 1983. If a vote is required voting papers will be sent to all members on the active roll who are resident In New Zealand, Australia, FIJI and Samoa for whom the University has a current address. Any elector who has not received a voting paper may obtain one by making a request in writing to the Returning Officer. Under Clause 6(2) of the University of Canterbury Act 1961, the Governing Bodies of state secondary schools and certain registered private secondary schools In the University of Canterbury District, are entitled to one vote for the purpose of electing a member of the Council of the University of Canterbury.
