Care of Children ARE YOU THE FAMILY THOMAS AND KATHY NEED? MY NAME IS KATHY. I am eleven years old and like hockey, horses and motor cycles. Recently I have had to leave the foster home where I have lived since I was a baby, and I now need a family who will understand and care for me until I am grown up. I would prefer to be In a small family where I am not the youngest child. THOMAS is an energetic seven year old who Is in need of a long-term foster home. He has a good sense of humour for his age, and enjoys outdoor activities. Thomas’ mother is not able to look after him and he needs a family who will care for him and, at the same time, be able to handle his difficult behaviour. Thomas will do best in a large and active family where the children are at least three years older than himself. Over the past two years a number of children have benefited from the Intensive Foster Care Scheme which provides special supports and payments to families willing to face the challenge of caring for a child who otherwise may not achieve the stability and attachment to a family that he or she needs.
