Four-year-olds to have good run
By G. K. YULE Four-year-olds have enjoyed great success in Canterbury in the past few weeks and they should have a big say in the outcome oi Srting races at the New nd Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway this evening. Timely Victory, Avon Row and Donore are all aged four and they are capable pacers engaged in the opening event, the First Junior Handicap, with Lay Off, Game Greg and Kawarau Chip a trio of the same age in the Fantom Handicap. However, in the latter event, they might be pressed to hold out older horses in the form of Cathy Crockett, Nakaia and Star Prince. Speedy Prince, one of the three-year-olds in the C. E. Hoy Handicap, might be
match for hnt h! F° r( t 3 year older, . but there might not be much between the pair. T,T P /r eet ! e ’ Revene Lass and Capri are four- * ln *k the Stakes, but they might find c«i ha tj to Co P ten(l _ Solar Hoover, from Invercargill and Shiphght, from Mosgiel, both of which were placed behind Glen Lustre on the first night of the m * ■ 4 4 in th? w2>°w- ert Ev n s t arte J? in the Wee Wm Free-for-all. to be run over one mile, six are four and it will be
surprising if the winner does not come from among their ranks. Qur Mana, Glen Lustre, H obart Star, Agrinion, Ansett and Triloba! are all four and the y have sh ° wn splendid form in the past few months. Any one of them could win, but Our Mana looks the pick of them. Merci Cherie is one of seven four-year-olds in the f' na l event, the Maurice Holmes Handicap, a race f Or which Bee El, a three-year-old, is the likely favourite.
