Invercargill wool eases slightly

PA Invercargill Prices at yesterday’s Invercargill wool sale eased slightly compared with the Dunedin sale of April 29. The official report described the market for crossbred fleece wools as to 2.5 per cent cheaper, crossbred skirtings were quoted as firm, and oddments to 2.5 pe? cent cheaper, with goodstyle second-shear firm, and average-style second-shear in buyers’ favour. Crossbred lambs’ wool was 2.5 per cent dearer.

Most of the 12,545 bales of new-season wool plus 5884 bales offered by the Wool Board was second-shear which showed more seasonal colour than normal because of wet conditions.

The main competition came from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and China. The Wool Board gave only limited support by bidding on 0.9 per cent and having 0.1 per cent passed to it. The adjusted weighted average sale price /.was
