Grim look at the future
Harrison Ford (above) leaps above the cars and crowds of Los Angeles 40 years in the future while hunting a “replicant” (humanoid-android) in “Blade Runner,” now showing at the Regent.
This intense science-fic-tion, detective story pre-
sents a claustrophic picture of the future but also is fascinating with its overwhelming visual and sound effects. Ford (better known as Han Solo of the “Star Wars” films and Indiana Jones of “Raiders of the Los Ark” ) plays Deckard, the futuris-
tic bounty hunter who looks as if he has stepped out of a Dashiell Hammett novel. The director, Ridley Scott, returns to the same genre as his highly-success-ful “Alian,” a science fiction, horror movie of three years ago.
